Basil pesto nutrition label template
Traditional Genovese pesto uses pine nuts. Pine nuts are not one of the tree nuts listed in Annex II of Reg. 1169/2011, so they are not emphasised as an EU allergen – but Parmesan (milk) is. Many sellers still add a 'may contain nuts' note because pine nuts are often processed alongside almonds and cashews; check your supplier. If you swap in cashews or walnuts, those are EU tree nuts and must be emphasised.
